Coquelin: Valencia training intense

New Valencia midfielder Francis Coquelin has described the club’s training sessions as ‘really intense’ and praised Coach Marcelino.

The French midfielder completed his move to Los Che last week in a deal worth a reported €10m from Arsenal and has since made his debut for the club.

“So far the training has been really intense,” Coquelin told an interview with L’Equipe.

“This has been enjoyable as you learn a lot about yourself and your teammates, and the players at the club are at a very high level.

“I moved because I did not have enough game time at Arsenal and I wished to experience somewhere else, while Valencia are a club with a rich history and have been very welcoming.

“Santi Cazorla (a former Arsenal teammate) gave me a lot of positivity about the Coach Marcelino, and he has talked me through his aims and ambitions with the club.

“He wants to build a great European team but doing this with a family atmosphere, which helps players improve.

“It will be tough for me to compete with Geoffrey Kondogbia and Dani Parejo but I must try.”
