Alaves moved out of La Liga’s relegation zone for the first time this season with a hard-fought victory over a misfiring Sevilla on Sunday.
Manu Garcia’s strike early in the second half was enough for Abelardo Fernandez’s side, who have now won four of their last eight League games, in a mini-resurgence.
The victory also ensures they move above Deportivo La Coruna into 17th, and it was secured despite a late red card for Ruben Duarte.
Sevilla have now dropped to sixth in the table and are looking over their shoulders, with only six points separating them from Real Sociedad in 15th.
