Report: Madrid target Low

Real Madrid have reportedly identified Germany boss Joachim Low as a possible replacement for Zinedine Zidane.

According to La Stampa, Madrid will sack Zidane if they lose their Champions League last-16 tie with Paris Saint-Germain next month.

Consequently, Low would be “best placed” to take the reins, with the Italian newspaper explaining Blancos President Florentino Perez spoke to Low before he appointed the Frenchman two years ago.

Furthermore, the German would have asked Madrid to let him take his country to the 2018 World Cup before moving on.

Zidane revealed after Los Merengues' 2-2 draw with Numancia midweek that he had agreed a new contract until 2020, although it has yet to be signed.

Low's club record is mixed, with only a German Cup and Austrian League title to his name, but led Die Mannschaft to World Cup glory four years ago.
