Chelsea want Simeone in summer – report

English champions Chelsea reportedly want Atletico Madrid Coach Diego Simone to replace Antonio Conte if the Italian leaves this year.

A report in The Times outlines how “there is a widespread expectation at Stamford Bridge that both parties will come to a mutual agreement on his exit in the summer”, with the Argentine their number one target to step in.

The Atletico Coach is the longest-serving current La Liga manager, having been appointed in 2011, and four months ago he signed a two-year contract extension to commit to the club until June 2020.

A former Los Rojiblancos player, Simeone led the club to the Spanish league title in 2014 and his side were Champions League runners-up twice – in 2014 and 2016.

Despite the report, there is no suggestion in the Spanish press that the tactician will leave Estadio Wanda Metropolitano this summer, while he does not speak fluent English.
