Former Barcelona and Arsenal defender Ignasi Miquel has joined Malaga on a three-and-a-half-year contract from Segunda highfliers Lugo.
The 25-year-old began his career with Barcelona, spending five years at La Masia before turning professional at Arsenal – where he made 14 senior appearances.
The central defender then had a loan stint at Leicester City before joining Norwich City but he returned to Spain in 2015, firstly with second tier side Ponferradina and then with Lugo.
Miquel initially joined Malaga on an emergency loan deal last month to replace full-back Juankar, who was ruled out for the rest of the season with knee ligament damage.
The deal has now been officially been processed by La Liga with the fee thought to be in the region of €500,000.
