Sevilla set to sack Berizzo?

Sevilla could be set to sack Coach Eduardo Berizzo on Friday after just six months at the club, according to reports in the Spanish press.

The Andalucian club have called a board meeting with the Argentine’s future the primary talking point and several Spanish media outlets suggest his future is in serious doubt.

Cadena Cope report it is likely he will be dismissed but others are more cautious, with Marca suggesting he still retains the support of several board figures despite growing unrest.

Los Rojiblancos are in a poor run of form with Wednesday’s defeat at Real Sociedad their seventh away loss in nine outings while Friday night’s scoreless draw at home to Levante culminated in the club’s fans booing off the team.

Sevilla sit fifth in La Liga and they remain in both the Copa Del Rey and Champions League but performances have been unconvincing.

The 5-1 thrashing at Spartak Moscow alongside heavy defeats at Valencia and Real Madrid (4-0 and 5-0 respectively) have heightened unrest at the club, with many infuriated at Berizzo’s rotation policy.

The Coach was diagnosed with prostate cancer last month but that is not thought to be an obstacle to a potential dismissal.

There is also a belief that the removal of Berizzo could pave a way back for Steven N’Zonzi, who has fallen out of favour with the management  team after a row.
