Aspas expecting hostile Riazor

Celta Vigo striker Iago Aspas is expecting a typically hostile reception at Deportivo La Coruna’s Estadio Riazor in Saturday’s Galician derby.

Depor are only one place above the drop zone but a win would take them above Celta in the standings in the fierce local rivalry.

“This match is always special and you look for the dates as soon as the fixture lists are released,” Aspas told Diario AS.

“All the players are told upon joining the club how special these games are for the entire club and how everybody wants to win them.

“If they’ve never played in the Galician derby before then they will be familiar with other derbies and will know this one is right up there.

“It’s a great opportunity for us to bounce back after a defeat (to Villarreal) while Deportivo will be motivated to after losing 4-0 to Barcelona.

“They are at home and if they win they will go above us (on head-to-head record) in the standings, which makes this even more important.

“There is always hostility for us at the Riazor and for me especially, I will not be welcomed with flowers.”
