Berizzo: Fans right to whistle

Eduardo Berizzo felt Sevilla’s fans “had a right” to whistle during their goalless draw with Levante and hinted Steven N’Zonzi could leave in January.

Berizzo was back in the Sevilla dugout on Friday after having undergone cancer treatment, but his return was marked by N’Zonzi missing his fourth straight Liga match and the Andalusians being held at home to lowly Levante.

“I’ve never felt bad, but after some serious difficulties, or just difficulties, I’m happy to be with the team again,” the Coach said after the game.

“We came into the game from a defeat and we had to bounce back. We couldn’t win, but we have to keep going.

“We played with bravery and a serious attitude during the match, but our football was lacking.

“Our opponents did their thing, they locked themselves up very well and we lacked creativity in attack.

“We didn’t want the draw, but we have to keep working hard. We had a bad game at the Bernabeu but played with anger, even if our football was lacking.

“It was a match where we didn’t play with clarity, but we’ve gained a point and we’ll keep going.

“Whistles from the crowd? When the team don’t play well, the fans make their feelings clear.

“Not winning only adds to what happened at the Bernabeu. They had a right to be angry.

“N’Zonzi? It’s an issue that we’ll evaluate over the holidays. These things will remain confined to the dressing room.

“It’s a technical decision. We’ll assess the situation in a consensual way, for the good of the team and the club.”
