Moreno move to Betis ruled out

Roma sporting director Monchi has ruled out the possibility of central defender Hector Moreno joining Real Betis in the January transfer window.

The Mexican central defender joined the Italian giants in summer in a €5.7m deal from PSV Eindhoven but has only started two matches in the first four months of the campaign.

“There’s no chance of Moreno leaving Roma in January,” Monchi told El Desmarque when asked about the defender’s future.

The 29-year-old is familiar with La Liga having made 135 appearances for Espanyol across a four-year stint with the Catalan club.

Moreno is close friends with compatriot and Betis midfielder Andres Guardado with his profile matching that which Betis are looking for with doubts over the form of defenders Jordi Amat and Alin Tosca.
