Las Palmas decision ‘imminent’

Las Palmas are set to appoint their next Coach this week with a decision to be made between Lanus boss Jorge Almiron and Paco Jemez.

Last week, Almiron told reporters in Argentina “it’s almost definite that I’m going to Las Palmas”, while Marca report Jemez as saying “the club have decided to wait and that means they trust me.”

An official decision is set to be made within the next 48 hours but the new Coach will not be in the dugout in time for the weekend’s clash with Espanyol.

The Gran Canarian side sit bottom of La Liga with only 10 points from their opening 15 fixtures.

Almiro has spent the majority of his coaching career in Mexico, before returning home with Lanus while Jemez – formerly of Rayo Vallecano and Granada – left Mexican side Cruz Azul left month after a year in charge.
