Barcelona defender Nelson Semedo has defended Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo’s form in La Liga this season.

The two play alongside each other at international level with Portugal while the full-back admitted it was an ‘honour’ to play alongside both Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

“His lack of goals in La Liga is not his fault,” Semedo is quoted as saying by Mais Futebol.

“He has provided plenty of assists and in the Champions League he has been fantastic, in a team that is not quite as strong as previous years.

“Their side has not created quite so many chances this season and Cristiano’s performance has not dipped.

“I am very fortunate to play alongside both him and Lionel Messi, it’s only me and Andre Gomes who have such luck at club and international level!

“They are the best two players in the world and it is an honour for me to play alongside such fantastic players as they make football a lot easier if you are a teammate!”

Ronaldo notched a brace for Madrid in their 5-0 weekend win over Sevilla, bringing his La Liga goals tally to four this season.
