Sevilla board promise signings

Sevilla president Jose Castro (pictured right) has promised the club will invest in the squad in January as they seek to improve on-pitch results.

Saturday’s 5-0 loss at Real Madrid left the Andalucians 11 points behind league leaders Barcelona and in fifth place in La Liga after 15 rounds of matches.

“The money available to this club will be used to fund the players who will be on the pitch,” Castro told the club’s AGM this week, as quoted by Marca.

“We will look to strengthen the squad with signings next month especially at the request of the Coach (Eduardo Berizzo) and we have shown we are never afraid to strengthen.

“It is clear our squad has deficiencies and we must address these, and I can ensure everyone we will work hard on this.”

A deal has already been struck for Corinthians full-back Guilherme Arana.
