Zidane confirms Varane injury

Zinedine Zidane has reiterated that Real Madrid could make signings in January after confirming Raphael Varane will miss their next game.

Varane pulled up with a reported muscle strain during Madrid’s 3-2 victory over Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday, ruling him out of their match against Sevilla on Saturday, and Zidane admitted a second time that Los Blancos were weighing up potential arrivals.

“Transfers? There’s that possibility, nothing has changed, so we’ll see what happens,” he said after the game.

“We have 30 days to see what can happen. It’s a possibility like every year.

“Varane? He hurt himself and we’ll see how he develops. They’ll do scans on him on Thursday, but he’s optimistic.

“In any case, he won’t play on Saturday. Vallejo? I don’t think he has much of an issue, but we still have to assess him.

“We’ll find a solution to overcome this. Llorente’s played at centre-back before, so we’ll see.

“Ceballos? I’m happy with him, he did very well and it’s not easy to come on during a game.

“Together with Marcos, he gave balance to the team. In terms of minutes, he’s available to the team and I ask that everyone makes themselves ready.

“Goalkeepers? I have two and I’ll always say the same about them, I’m happy with both Keylor and Kiko.

“I saw Keylor have a good game. Maybe he could’ve done a bit more, but that’s how it always is. We can all do a bit more.”
