Former Sevilla captain Coke is set to sign for Levante in January after after being frozen out at Schalke, according to reports in Spain.
The 30-year-old joined the Bundesliga side in the summer of 2016 in a €5m deal but suffer a cruciate ligament injury the following week, ruling him out until April.
Despite a run in the side towards the end of last season, he has featured only once in the league this season – as a substitute- as the club’s 3-5-2 formation does not accommodate him.
A report in Onda Cero now confirms the Valencia-based club are closing in on an agreement for the full-back in January.
It had been reported earlier this year by Estadio Deportivo that Levante would go head-to-head with Alaves for the signing.
The 30-year-old won three Europa League titles in a five-year stint with Sevilla having previously spent six seasons with Rayo Vallecano.
