Alaves dismiss De Biasi after two months

Alaves are searching for their third permanent manager of the season after dismissing Gianni De Biasi just over two months after appointing him.

The Vitoria-based club will call on the services of coach Javier Cabello for the second time this season to temporarily take charge of first-team affairs.

Italian De Biasi had been appointed in late September to replace Luis Zubeldia, who was dismissed after losing all four La Liga games without finding the net.

“The club have decided to terminate the contract of Gianni De Biasi after the last results obtained in La Liga,” read an Alaves statement.

“For the moment, Javier Cabello will be in charge of leading the squad.”

“We thank Gianni De Biasi for the work done in this period and we wish him the best of luck in his professional future.”

De Biasi, 61, previously was in charge of the Albanian national team.
