Aspas enjoying role with Spain

Iago Aspas is relishing his time with the Spanish national team and is hopeful he can continue his form to continue in the squad.

The 30-year-old received his first ever call-up to the national squad last November, when he scored on his debut against England, and he now has three goals in six international caps.

“Every call-up is an honour and a reward for my form,” Aspas told Marca.

“A few years ago it would not have been easy to believe I would be involved with the squad but it is fantastic to be amongst a small group of great players.

“It’s been a really positive first year with the squad and I will do everything the Coach asks of me.

“My favourite goal? My first one against England last November, as it was my most skilful finish and also that it came on my debut, although every goal is special of course.

“It’s great to be involved in almost every game since my first call-up and it’s fantastic to have minutes for the national team.

“I’m not taking anything for granted as there are so many options for the Coach and we have many talented players.”
