Athletic Bilbao midfielder Mikel Rico has given his backing to Coach Jose Angel Ziganda to improve results at the club.
The 33-year-old midfielder has not featured in La Liga for the struggling Basque club this season but has backed Ziganda – who replaced Ernesto Valverde this summer – to turn things around.
“The Coach is demanding more than he did at the start and is getting accustomed to our team,”
“He is working very hard to mould this team into what he wants and he offers high levels of motivation and eagerness to prove what he is capable of.
“Of course we must improve at San Mames – we have shown such a high level here in the past and we must attempt to replicate this again.
“Just as we would not get carried away by praise, we will not take the criticism to heart and we will remain united and together as a group to search for the best solution to this situation.”
