Garcia: No Athletic excuses

Raul Garcia believes Athletic Bilbao are out of excuses for their poor form and have to work hard and start winning.

Athletic were beaten 3-1 at Celta Vigo this weekend, leaving the Basque side five points clear of the bottom three ahead of the international break, without a League win since mid-October and a League away win all season.

“There’s nothing to explain, nothing to talk about, you just have to work at it. The first thing is to recognise we’re not playing the same away from home as at home, and from there, try to be more consistent, which is what will give us good results,” the midfielder, scorer of Athletic’s goal at Celta, said, according to AS.

“We didn’t do things right, that’s the problem. Everyone can see the mistakes, we have to work to correct them because we can’t continue like this. We like to win and do things well. I always say when we lose there’s no one more affected than me. I’ll be turning this over in my head for the two weeks of the international break.

“This isn’t the Coach’s fault. The players are the ones on the field. Excuses are no longer valid, we only have to win.”
