‘Annoyed’ Michel slams Malaga players

An ‘annoyed’ Michel Gonzalez slammed his Malaga players after their shock 2-1 defeat to Numancia, accusing them of pretending to be top-flight quality.

A injury-time brace handed Numancia victory in their Copa del Rey last-32 first leg against Malaga on Tuesday, prompting the usually-composed Michel to lose his rag after the game.

“It’s incredible, we can’t even put a Band-Aid on the situation,” fumed the Coach.

“Given how needy and greedy we are, we can’t give [the game] away in the last 10 minutes, allowing our opponents to play.

“Far beyond that, every time we went past their midfield, we weren’t able to string three passes together, and that’s very difficult to control.

“We lacked strength and the final ball. We got into comfortable situations but didn’t resolve them well.

“We lacked a lot of things, especially in the last five minutes, when they scored twice against us.

“It’s as if we want to make things complicated for ourselves. I’m annoyed. My future doesn’t matter. I’ll never be disillusioned, but I will be annoyed.

“There are things that escape the Coach. Let’s not talk about the quality of my squad, although when you dress up as a player, you have to understand what it means.

“I don’t know if it’s [a problem of] attitude; maybe some are feeling stressed, that they lack quality or that we see them dress up as Primera players and it ‘seems’ that they are…

“We have to demand some [of the players] to give much more. I won’t make any excuses, the one facing this situation and who feels ashamed is me. I’ll say what I have to say to them personally.”
