No Barca fans at Atleti due to ‘error’

There will be no tickets available for Barcelona fans for their first match at Atletico Madrid’s Wanda Metropolitano due to a ‘logisitcal error’.

The Blaugrana travel to Atleti in the first round of La Liga fixtures after the international break but the club cancelled their request for tickets after being informed of the error.

The newly-constructed stadium has a capacity of 67,703 but the club’s mistake ensures that only home fans will be in the arena for arguably the biggest league clash of the season to date.

Both sides are protecting unbeaten league records going into the match, with the Catalan giants winning all seven of their La Liga outings to date with Atleti winning four and drawing three.

Atleti have recorded home league victories over Malaga and Sevilla at the ground but were defeated by Chelsea in the Champions League last month.

There had been small concerns of tension around the fixture due to the Catalan independence issue which is currently dominating current affairs in Spain.
