Toni Kroos believes joining Real Madrid from Bayern Munich was the best move he could have made and has developed him as a player.
The 27-year-old joined Madrid in the summer of 2014 from the Bundesliga giants and has since made 157 appearances, scoring eight times.
“I have no doubt that joining Real Madrid was the right move,” Kroos told Marca.
“Going abroad to a top club is one more step in your development and at the time Carlo Ancelotti was very keen to bring me in.
“At Bayern I was seen as a good player but was one of many strong players who Bayern had and in Madrid you get even more attention.
“Zidane gave me a lot of confidence right from the start and in his two seasons in charge he has played me in almost every match, particularly the big games.
“I have a strong relationship with him and for a player to have that with a Coach is really important in terms of performance.”
