Kepa closing in on new Athletic deal

Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga wants to commit his future to the club despite reported interest from Real Madrid, according to reports.

The Spain international, who celebrated his 23rd birthday on Tuesday, has a deal at the San Mames which expires in June 2018 and despite negotiations for a new contract beginning in January earlier this year no new contract has yet been agreed.

Now Marca report a new deal with the Basque club is close to being agreed with a €75m release clause inserted, up from the current €10m clause.

Kepa is said to being offered an annual wage of €3m at Athletic, where he has made 29 senior appearances having replaced long-standing custodian Gorka Iraizoz, who joined Girona this summer.
