Atletico Madrid ‘deserved’ to beat Leganes and now must take advantage of the international break to ‘recharge batteries’, says Jose Maria Gimenez.
The Uruguayan defender started for Los Rojiblancos in the all-Madrid clash on Saturday night, where despite dominating possession, his side were held to a scoreless draw.
“We felt we deserved the victory,” Gimenez is quoted as saying by Marca after the match at Butarque.
“It was always going to be a difficult match – we did not predict they would settle for the draw but they controlled their discipline well but of course when you don’t win, you leave with regret.
“We now must work on improving, to make the most of the break we now have and recharge our batteries and bounce back.
“We have a great team and a strong squad so we are still positive and we will keep working in training.”
