Trio called up to Spanish squad

Spain have called up La Liga trio Aritz Aduriz, Alvaro Odriozola and Jonathan Viera to their squad for their World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Israel.

Real Madrid full-back Dani Carvajal, Barcelona captain Andres Iniesta and Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata all had to withdraw from Julen Lopetegui’s squad due to injury.

Athletic Bilbao striker Aduriz has netted twice in 11 international appearances, ten of which came last year.

21-year-old Odriozola has starred for Real Sociedad this season and is in the senior squad for the first time, while Las Palmas attacking midfielder Viera also makes the squad for the first time.

La Roja host Albania before travelling to Israel to complete their qualification campaign, with four points required to seal their place in next year’s World Cup.
