Godin: Group now complicated, but…

Diego Godin insists Atletico Madrid will “keep fighting” after their 2-1 defeat to Chelsea but admits the Champions League “has become complicated”.

Michy Batshuayi’s goal not only secured Chelsea victory with the last kick of the game at Wanda Metropolitano on Wednesday but also left Atleti without a win in Group C and already six points behind the Blues.

“They’re a great team, it was a tough match,” the defender said after the game.

“We didn’t get anything, but all we can do is keep working.

“Morata? I think we controlled him well enough, apart from the move that led to his goal for 1-1.

“After that, it was a tight game. There’s nothing else to say about it. We have to keep fighting in order to give ourselves a chance of going through.

“We have to battle in the games that are coming up and try to win them.

“The group? It’s become complicated, that’s clear. We have to win our upcoming games, but we’re still in there.

“There are enough games left and we’ll try to win them to go through.”
