Thibaut Courtois and Jan Oblak are the two best goalkeepers in world football, according to Atletico Madrid Coach Diego Simeone.
24-year-old Oblak is the current number one at Los Rojiblancos while Belgian Courtois was his predecessor in Madrid before returning to parent club Chelsea.
“Courtois and Oblak are the world’s best two goalkeepers,” Simeone explained in his press conference.
“I don’t miss any aspect with Oblak replacing Courtois for us, they are the two best goalkeepers, there is no upgrade from them.
“I will select my side for the match depending on who we are playing and not think about individual players but rather the balance of the team – someone who is in form may be left out for the good of the team.
“Set pieces could be important during the match; (Jose Maria) Gimenez is important as far as we’re concerned, he can play in a number of positions. When he plays as a full-back it’s like we have three central defenders on the pitch and are stronger in the air.”
