De Biasi set for Levante

Alaves are set to appoint Italian Gianni de Biasi as the club’s new manager to replace the sacked Luis Zubeldia, say reports in Spain.

According to Diario AS, De Biasi – who resigned as Coach of the Albanian national team in June after a six-year stint – will be watching from the stands for Saturday’s clash against Real Madrid.

Caretaker boss Javi Cabello, who oversaw the 1-0 loss at Deportivo La Coruna on Wednesday, is expected to once again be in charge of Alaves against the Spanish and European champions.

De Biasi previously coached at Levante during the 2007/08 and an extensive managerial career has also seen him manage Brescia, Torino and Udinese.

Alaves have lost all five La Liga matches this campaign without finding the net, with Aitor Karanka, Javier Aguirre and Gus Poyet among the other out-of-work managers linked to the Mendizorroza post.
