Castro to decide on Betis return

Real Betis have left the door open for Ruben Castro’s return to the club in January when his loan spell at Guizhou Hengfeng Zhicheng ends.

The 36-year-old, who is also the club’s all-time leading goalscorer, joined the Chinese Super League club on a loan agreement until the end of the year.

“It will be his decision,” club president Angel Haro told Cadena Cope.

“I don’t know what he is thinking and I’m unsure if he has an option with the Chinese club but ultimately we will respect his wishes.

“The door is open for his return in January as he is a very important player in the history of Betis and would form a part of our squad.

“He misses his family and his son a lot and in normal circumstances he will return but if he receives a good offer elsewhere, we will fully understand.”

Castro has scored five goals in seven appearances since his move to the Far East.
