Ziganda positive on Kepa stay

Athletic Bilbao Coach Jose Angel Ziganda played down rumours of goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga leaving the club next summer.

The 22-year-old’s contract at San Mames expires in June 2018 and reports in the Spanish press earlier this week linked Real Madrid with a move for the Spain Under-21 goalkeeper.

However, despite contract renewal talks not coming to a conclusion since opening in January, Ziganda is confident the promising goalkeeper will remain at the Basque giants.

“I have no reason to be pessimistic regarding Kepa's renewal,” Ziganda told reporters on Wednesday.

“I prefer to think positive thoughts rather than negative but this is just the situation, I see him every day and I know he is calm and enjoying himself at the club.”
