Pape Cheikh Diop has revealed he would like to return to Celta Vigo one day after completing his move to French giants Lyon.
The 20-year-old completed a €15m to the Ligue 1 side last month and after joining Celta aged 14 he made 16 league appearances for the club last season, scoring once.
“It is sad to leave Celta and the city of Vigo as it feels like my home,” Cheikh told reporters.
“I have enjoyed my time here and I want to thank both the club and the fans for helping me and giving me so much support.
“I have many special memories but the two standout moments were my debut against Espanyol in Balaidos and my first goal against Granada.
“I have always said this club is my home and I wish to return here one day and retire whilst at this club, but right now Lyon is an excellent opportunity for me.”
