Spurs win Fernando Llorente race?

Tottenham appear to have piped Chelsea to the signing of Swansea City and Spain striker Fernando Llorente, say reports.

Diario AS report Spurs have made an eleventh hour move for the 32-year-old, improving the offer of the English champions both financially and in terms of first team opportunities.

Mauricio Pochettino is keen to add further competition and depth to his attacking options and whilst Everton also lodged a bid, the North London’s side offer of Champions League football is reportedly key.

The Swans are reportedly reluctant to lose the target man, who also had a stint at Juventus, but believe a bidding war between clubs could significantly increase his price.

The Pamplona-native netted 118 times in 333 appearances for Athletic Club over a nine-year spell, before having stints at Juventus, Sevilla and Swansea.

He played under Chelsea Coach Antonio Conte at Juve, while he would join a growing Spanish contingent at Stamford Bridge, where there are currently six in the first-team squad.
