‘Barca have peace of mind back’

Andres Iniesta believes Barcelona regained their peace of mind after Saturday’s 2-0 win at Alaves.

Lionel Messi’s brace delivered Barca a hard-fought victory at Mendizorroza and continued their 100 percent start in La Liga, prompting Iniesta to praise his side for their patient approach and believing until the final whistle.

“I’m happy for the win, both on a collective level and personal level,” the midfielder said after the game.

“I felt very good after my injury. I think this win reinforces us going forward.

“We did well, playing with patience, always insisting, not dropping off at any time, even though things couldn’t go as we wanted.

“And, again, Leo was effective when we needed him. We’re really happy with win.

“It was important to reach the international break with these six points. The truth is that after it, we’ll be able to face our commitments with more calmness.

“Whether we like it or not, the noise that comes from the outside, on the issue of signings, always reverberates. The closure of the market will allow us to focus entirely on work.

“We’ll see how the squad shapes up, but it’s clear that, from now on, and after having resolved our first commitments very well, we’ll have to grow day by day.”
