Alba: Barca got Madrid wrong

Jordi Alba admits Barcelona were caught out by Real Madrid playing with three forwards instead of two on Wednesday.

Barca were resoundingly beaten 5-1 on aggregate by Madrid over both legs of the Supercopa, and Alba conceded his side got their assessment of Los Blancos wrong for the return match.

“We thought they would play with two forwards, but they went with three and it made bringing the ball out difficult for us,” he told Esport 3 after the Catalans’ 2-0 defeat.

“Still, Madrid were better than us in this game and the other game. They have a good midfield, but it was clear we wanted to win and that the Coach adopted a good approach.

“We have to face our game at the weekend with desire. It’s true that we suffered here, but there’s a lot of season left.

“We’re just at the beginning. We have to improve in certain aspects, but the team will certainly give a good response and have a good season.”
