Valencia’s Murillo move in doubt?

Inter boss Luciano Spalletti has appeared to cast doubt over Jeison Murillo’s proposed switch to Valencia. “We’re very short in defence…”

Valencia were reportedly close to signing Murillo in a €13m deal, but Spalletti admitted the Nerazzurri’s lack of numbers at the back possibly risked the plug being pulled on the transfer.

“At this moment, we are very short in defence, especially as Andrea Ranocchia has a recurring inflammation of the tendon and needs to be evaluated,” the Coach said after his side’s 1-0 win against Real Betis on Saturday.

“It seems unlikely that Jeison Murillo can play next week, though I’ll have to see what the directors tell me tonight and tomorrow.”

Spalletti also discussed Geoffrey Kondogbia, after the midfielder missed Inter training on Friday to force a transfer to Los Che, and Ivan Perisic, who was the subject of shock links with Barcelona on Saturday.

“Kondogbia has been very disappointing and his behaviour does not reflect the person we know. He is damaging himself with this behaviour,” he added.

“He wants to go to Valencia on loan and save a bit on his wages, but he wants it too easy…

“When there is something you don’t agree on, you find a middle ground. Considering the money spent on him, it’s difficult.

“In my view, Kondogbia was given some bad advice, as this sort of attitude is just not part of his personality.

“Kondogbia is strong and has been paid as a strong player, so if there aren’t the right conditions for him to go, then he’s staying here.

“We’ll evaluate whether to sign someone else in the middle, but I won’t let a quality player leave without a quality replacement.

“Perisic is determined to remain. He spoke like a player who wants to do well and be professional.”
