Soldado to join Fenerbahce

Villarreal have agreed the sale of striker Roberto Soldado to Turkish giants Fenerbahce in a deal rumoured to be in the region of €8m.

The 32-year-old missed six months of action recently due to a serious knee injury and has hit nine La Liga goals in 38 appearances since returning to Spain from Tottenham in 2015.

"Villarreal CF and Fenerbahce SK Turkish have reached in principle an agreement for the transfer of striker Roberto Soldado,'' read a statement from Villarreal.

"The definitive agreement is subject to small details in the contract and the corresponding medical review of the Valencian striker.''

Soldado, capped 12 times by Spain, has also previously represented Real Madrid, Osasuna, Getafe, Valencia and Tottenham.

Villarreal has signed Turkish striker Enes Unal this summer who is expected to partner Cedric Bakambu in their strongest starting line-up.
