Mayoral hopeful on Madrid role

Borja Mayoral is hopeful of playing a role in Real Madrid’s first team squad this season after returning from a loan spell at Wolfsburg.

The 20-year-old struggled in the Bundesliga last season, making only three starts and netting just twice during an unsuccessful stint in Germany.

"Of course I would like to stay here as I’m at the best club in the world," Mayoral, who is a reported target of Getafe and Leganes, told Marca.

"I must speak with Zidane to see what he believes, but I am happy to be here.

"There is only one centre-forward here (Karim Benzema), so I believe there is a chance.

"If I have to leave I want to stay in Spain, I am thankful that the club [Madrid] have shown confidence in me after a year abroad which was not very good."
