Zenit set for Atleti’s Kranevitter

Atletico Madrid midfielder Matias Kranevitter is travelling to Russia to sign a four-year contract with Zenit Saint Petersburg, according to reports.

According to Tyc Sports and Goal.com, Kranevitter looks set to join the growing contingent of Argentines at the Russian giants after Sebastian Driussi, Leandro Paredes and Emanuel Mammana all completed deals this summer.

Emiliano Rigoni, Santiago Ascacíbar and Cristian Pavon are other Argentines linked to Zenit as new Coach Roberto Mancini stamps his mark on the team.

The 24-year-old joined Los Rojiblancos from River Plate in August 2015 for a reported fee of €8m but started only three La Liga games in his first season in Madrid.

The holding midfielder then joined Sevilla on a season-long loan deal but despite 32 appearances at Sanchez Pizjuan no permanent deal was concluded.

Reports had linked Las Palmas with a loan signing for the deep-lying midfielder while Fiorentina were also said to be interested.
