La Liga new boys Girona have completed a season-long loan deal for Manchester City’s Spanish defender Pablo Maffeo.
The 20-year-old has made 27 appearances for the Catalan side across two previous loan stints but will now play an entire campaign at Estadi Montilivi.
Maffeo – who made three appearances for City last season – is the sixth arrival of the summer at Girona following deals for Middlesbrough duo Bernardo Espinosa and Christian Stuani, Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper Gorka Iraizoz, Celta Vigo’s Carles Planas and French midfielder Farid Boulaya.
Other City players including Douglas Luiz, Aleix Garcia and Marlos Moreno are also set to join Girona – promoted to Spain’s top flight for the first time in their history – on loan deals.
