Eibar want Porto’s Ivan Marcano

Eibar have contacted Porto regarding their interest in defender Ivan Marcano, who’s contract at the Portuguese giants expires next season.

The 30-year-old’s contract at Estadio Dragao expires in June 2018 and according to Marca, the club are not prioritising a renewal for the defender and are open to a sale this summer.

The Santander-native spent the first three seasons of his career in La Liga, making 81 top flight appearances for Racing Santander, Villarreal and Getafe before having stints with Olympiakos and Rubin Kazan.

Marcano then moved to Porto in 2014 and despite becoming a regular in Os Dragoes’ defence, making 109 first-team appearances, he is open to a return to Spain.

Betis had appeared frontrunners for his signature but have signed central defenders Jordi Amat and Zouhair Feddal while Malaga are also said to be interested.

However, Eibar have been given hope they can land the experienced defender this summer and will hope to conclude a deal.
