Leganes sign Sporting’s Cuellar

New Leganes goalkeeper Ivan Cuellar has insisted he wants to ‘continue to grow’ as a player after moving from Sporting Gijon on a two-year deal.

The 33-year-old ended a nine-year spell in Asturias following the club’s relegation in May to join the Madrid-based outfit.

The Merida-native has made a total of 108 top flight appearances having started his career at Atletico Madrid before moving to Sporting in 2008.

"I have come to grow and for my teammates to make me better,” Cuellar said at his introductory press conference on Saturday.

Despite the move initially being concluded without a transfer fee, reports in El Mundo Deportivo suggest Leganes will pay Sporting each time the goalkeeper plays with further clean sheet bonuses involved.
