Villarreal have identified Crotone central defender Francesco Ceccherini (pictured left) as their replacement for Mateo Musacchio, who joined Milan last month, say reports.
Marca cite a report in Gazzamercato which states the Yellow Submarine are interested in the 25-year-old who moved to the Serie A minnows last summer.
The defender’s current deal at the southern Italian side expires in 2019, having joined from Livorno last summer, but all parties are reportedly open to a deal being done.
Villarreal already have three Italians at the club – Nicola Sansone, Roberto Soriano and Daniele Bonera – while they have signed Turkish striker Enes Unal and Portugal defender Ruben Semedo.
