Celta close in on Larsson deal

Celta Vigo are moving closer to a deal to sign Heerenveen winger and Sweden international Sam Larsson, according to reports in Spain.

Marca state the Galicians ‘insistence’ and ‘persistence’ with the deal has persuaded the 24-year-old to join the club, in a deal said to be worth €6m.

"He is a great player who has proved his worth for years, but we have more options ,” Celta’s sporting director Felipe Minambres was quoted as saying by Marca earlier this week.

Larsson has scored once in three caps for his country and 24 times in 96 appearances for the Eredivisie side, whom he joined from IFK Gothenburg in 2014.

His international teammate John Guidetti plays for the club, as do Danish trio Pione Sisto, Daniel Wass and Andrew Hjulsager.

Celta have already signed midfield duo Jozabed and Stanislav Lobotka this summer, along with Uruguayan striker Maxi Lopez.

The report concludes this may be the final incoming of the summer as new Coach Juan Carlos Unzue is happy with his squad.
