Las Palmas are hopeful of a deal for Atletico Madrid midfielder Matias Kranevitter and see him as a replacement for Roque Mesa, who has joined Swansea City.

The 24-year-old joined Los Rojiblancos from River Plate in August 2015 for a reported fee of €8m but started only three La Liga games in his first season in Madrid.

The holding midfielder then joined Sevilla on a season-long loan deal but despite 32 appearances at Sanchez Pizjuan no permanent deal was concluded.

Marca now report Los Amarillos are hopeful of taking advantage of their good working relationship with Atletico – on show recently when Vitolo moved to the Gran Canaria club on loan until January.

Kranevitter admitted earlier this month he may have to leave Atleti should he not be guaranteed first-team football.
