Alves set to depart Valencia

Diego Alves will leave Valencia this week but must decide if his future lies in Spain or Italy, according to reports in Spain.

Valencia-based Plaza Deportiva state the 32-year-old has been told he can leave the club this summer as Los Che are keen for a deal due to his wage bill.

Roma and Napoli reportedly lead the chase for the Brazilian shot-stopper, who wants minutes ahead of next summer’s World Cup, while Deportivo La Coruna have also been mentioned as a destination and a move to his native Brazil has not been ruled out.

Alves has an asking price of €4m at the Mestalla although that could be lowered if a bidding war does not commence for his signature.

The Brazilian has spent six seasons at the Mestalla after initially spending four years at Almeria, but the club’s signing of Juventus goalkeeper Norberto Neto appears to have ended his future at the club.
