Official: Betis sign Guardado

Andres Guardado assures “I arrive with the same enthusiasm as I did when I first went to Spain” after completing his move to Real Betis from PSV.

Guardado was unveiled as a prizefighter after he passed a medical and signed a three-year contract on Monday, in a deal reportedly worth €1.5m.

“I can only thank the President, Mr. Lorenzo [Serra Ferrer] and Mr. Setien,” he said at a Press conference.

“I’m just as excited as everyone. I return to La Liga and with a great team. I’m starting to love these colors, which look like the Mexican ones!

“I arrive with the same enthusiasm as I did when I first went to Spain at the age of 20. Why Betis? Because this Betis is a great Betis.

“It’s a serious and ambitious project and, above all, I’m returning to the best League in the world, returning to a higher level of competition.

“I’m experiencing a time of great maturity in my career and I want to achieve more.

“I want to achieve things and I think I can with Betis. I want to be at a very good level for the World Cup.

“My position? Fortunately, I have the experience of three years playing as a pivot. I learned from one of the best in that position, Cocu, who was my Coach.

“I talked to Setien, he saw me playing in that position and he liked what I did there.

“The big challenge is to be able to do the same as I did in Netherlands in such a competitive League.

“Expectations? They’re very high. That's one of the reasons why I’m here. Betis and I have the same expectations, I like serious challenges and I’m very excited.”
