Former Real Madrid defender Pepe has revealed he made the decision to join Besiktas due to the attitude of the club’s board and fans.
The 34-year-old completed his move to the Turkish champions earlier this week and insisted his aim was to keep winning titles.
“I spent ten perfect years at Real Madrid and became a real fans favourite,” Pepe told reporters upon his unveiling.
“The fans loved me a lot and I had a great relationship with the city too – both of my daughters were born in Madrid.
“We won three La Liga titles and won three Champions League crowns too, it was massively successful.
“I have chosen Besiktas because I received attention from the club’s chairman, the board and the fans – that love attracted me here.
“At club level, I’ve won everything that I could have won and my aim now with Besiktas is to keep winning trophies.”
