Deportivo La Coruna centre back Pablo Insua has signed a four-year deal with Bundesliga side Schalke, it has been confirmed.
The 23-year-old has spent the last two campaigns on loan with Leganes, who he helped win promotion to the top flight before playing 29 times in La Liga, where the Madrid-based club retained their status.
"This is a big step for me, Schalke are a big club who have left their mark in Europe," Insua told Schalke’s official website.
"I’m looking forward to the task ahead."
A product of Depor’s youth system, Insua was a key member of the Spanish Under 19 side which won the European Championships in 2012.
Insua made a total of 123 appearances across the top two divisions in Spain.
