Girona want Roma’s Doumbia

La Liga new boys Girona are hopeful of securing a deal for out-of-favour Roma forward Seydou Doumbia, say reports in Spain.

Diario AS pick up on reports from Sky Sports which state the Ivorian could complete a loan move to Estadi Montilivi with an option to buy included at the end of the season.

The 29-year-old has also been linked to Valencia, Fenerbahce and Sporting Lisbon but he fits Girona’s profile – the Catalans are looking for players with leadership qualities and top flight experience.

Roma signed the Ivory Coast international for €14.4m in January 2015 but he proved a massive flop in the Italian capital, scoring just two goals before loan moves to CSKA Moscow, Newcastle and Basel.

Doumbia found more success in Switzerland last season, finding the net 20 times in just 15 league starts.
