Valverde considers year out

Ernesto Valverde has not ruled out the possibility of a sabbatical after leaving Athletic Bilbao, he has confirmed at his press conference.

Heavily linked with a move to Barcelona to replace the outgoing Luis Enrique, Valverde ruled out reports he had agreed to a deal elsewhere already.

Asked if he will take a sabbatical year, the 53-year-old responded: "Why not? It depends.

"Would I like to Coach Barca? When I have an offer from a club, you will all know the answer.

“I see that it has been published that I have signed for another team but this is because a number of things are published every day, and I have already told you all this is not the case.”

One of the final questions directed towards Valverde was who he wanted to win the Copa del Rey final between Barcelona and Alaves, with the Coach responding: “I can tell you I do not have my heart divided in the final, I want Barcelona to win.”
