Current Barcelona assistant Juan Carlos Unzue (pictured left) is favourite to replace Eduardo Berizzo in the Celta Vigo hotseat, say reports in Spain.

According to Faro de Vigo, Unzue – who was also Luis Enrique’s number two during his stint with the Galicians in the 2013-14 campaign – is favourite for the vacancy after admitting defeat in his ambitions to manage Barca.

Ernesto Valverde is expected to be appointed at the Camp Nou after his departure from Athletic Bilbao was confirmed on Tuesday, with AS reporting Unzue has now ‘finally lost hope’ of replacing Enrique.

Berizzo announced his departure from Estadio Balaidos last week and is expected to replace Jorge Sampaoli at Sevilla, in what will be a busy summer on Spain’s managerial merry-go-round.

Faro de Vigo also report Oscar Garcia, Andre Villas-Boas and Claudio Ranieri are also on Celta’s shortlist of managerial replacements but ‘expect’ Unzue to be their man.
